travel days

We’re gonna see how long this writing streak will go. School is about to start up again and my time dwindles as assignments grow. But I wanted to share my little adventures with you guys. I’ll probably do a few different ones for the places I’ve traveled so, we will start with my Budapest and Munich trips.

Budapest was incredible to say the least. It was my first time visiting Hungry and I was very impressed. Luckily I was visiting & staying with one of my friends from Uni named Bori and traveled from Amsterdam with my other friend Zoey. We did a lot of drinking and staying up late while trying to sight see as well. The combo kinda did us dirty cause we ended up getting ready after 1pm both days.

We did a lot of walking and taking in the sights while hitting pubs in-between. Got to see the cooler spots Bori loves. The food we had was also great, never disappointed. Just all in all great fun times for sure, want to go back to discover more when I have more time.

We stayed on the Pest side and decided to not travel to the Buda side, mostly because of time but we walked along the river so we were able to see the other side. The buildings were grand and lit up so well because we went in November, so the Holiday season was in full swing. The Pest side is more a party side or younger side (according to Bori) so lots of cute bars. The theme was pretty underground which was cool because that made the decorations kinda wild and random. To all my FOCO people, the bars reminded me of a hip version of Washingtons… hehe. I love Bori for showing us around and hosting us. It was such a fun time and cannot wait for our next trip together!!

So my Munich trip was before the Budapest trip but I already started writing so now we will dive into this trip. THANK GOD for this trip. It was through the student association I’m apart of called OFFSCREEN which just is like a little group full of people who study Media & Culture at UvA. But I’m so thankful that I was able to go. The system of getting placed with going on these trips is kinda confusing, but, there’s a time window where you can sign up, then from those sign ups the names go in a randomizer and picks the names of people for the allotted number for the trip. Anyways I was not accepted at first and only got picked after a certain number of people said they couldn’t attend anymore. BUT, back to why this was great!! I was able to get so close to my little besties Marlein and Susie. I also got closer with the board members as well and yay. I love growing my circle of friends because it just means more people I can count on and that makes me feel more at home.

Since this was over a weekend it was very condensed with what we were doing. But all in all it was so much fun. We traveled both ways on a bus which was such a long ride and not comfy at all, but yeah it only made sense. We got pulled over by the German police because I guess they like to tag busses from The Netherlands because of drugs. We all had to get out with all of our stuff and line up. Then dogs came to us and sniffed all our stuff to make sure we had no drugs. Only two peoples bags were checked and they didn’t have anything. But wow that was like a movie scene. It was so eire because of the amount of cops and dogs and all of that. They only spoke German to us and they were aware that we are all internationals or Dutch and it was just annoying. I tried to take a little video of it but a cop came over to me and made me delete the vid from my phone and also in the recently deleted. Idk why because I mean that’s kinda not okay as I think back, like if they were doing their jobs correctly it shouldn’t have been an issue?? Wow, now I’m thinking they weren’t supposed to do it or something. But everything ended fine and we continued into Munich.

We got in and instantly went to a castle which was beautiful… like insanely beautiful. I’ll attach pictures so no worries you also get to see the perfection. The days kinda bleed into nights. The first night we ate at a very German cuisine place, I forgot what I had but it was good. Also being in Germany meant having a shit ton of beer. I had so much lol, so when we went to clubs I usually drank G&Ts or tequila shots. We had some down time for activities without the group but not a ton. We went out a couple nights, decided to stay in one night after going to a place but it was SO DEAD that it made us just want to go back to the hostel and watch a show. The last full day we had organized for 2 different museum trips and I ended up only going to see one but went to the gift shop for the other. The museum I went to was a Modern Art and it was so interesting, ill share pictures 🙂

It was a fast paced trip but it was all worth it. I have great memories and I couldn’t be happier with the people that went on it as well. Even though some organizational problems occurred we all still had a blast just fucking around the whole time.

I think these two trip were my main ones for the first semester (not including Christmas break.)

xoxo my loves, I’ll talk to ya later in another one
